Cross Country is an endurance sport that incorporates team and individual components. Blue Devil XC has a no-cut policy. There are two different team levels - varsity and junior varsity. Both levels practice together on a daily basis (Mon-Sat). Most XC meets will also include both levels although some invitationals may have varsity participation only. Race distances range from 2.0 to 3.1(5K) miles.
Working together with your teammates is a very important part of being on the cross country team. By training together, learning to endure the work together, you develop a special bond with your teammates. We work hard to develop a family atmosphere not only during practice time but outside of practice through the many team traditions we have. The lessons and life experiences in XC will challenge and encourage you to be a better person, friend, and runner. Together we can make a difference in our own lives and the lives of others.
The standards for earning a varsity letter is based on the number of varsity races run during the season (which varies based on the number of meets).
